Pacific Northwest      The Pacific Northwest of North America has a lot of snow. There is mostly cold weather. There is a lot of rain. The Pacific Northwest has  lots of thick cedar forests. One of the tribes that lived there is the Tlingit. Environment  2

  • 9. food The Tlingit ate a lot of different foods . Some of those foods are salmon, berries, goat, bear and deer. Their main source is salmon, they could smoke it, dry it, and use the bones for tools. They would use the skin of the animals for clothes also. Berries Salmonberries Salmon 4
  • 10. CLOTHES The Tlingit wore beautiful clothes made of goat hair, bird feathers, and animal furs. Some of the furs they used were goat bear and deer furs. The Tlingit’s clothes were decorated with ravens and eagles. They also wear cloaks with bears and whales on them. clothes Tlingit shoes 5
  • 11. Totem poles The Tlingit made very tall totem poles. They would dig holes in the ground to put them in. Fifty strong men are chosen to lift the pole up. They would celebrate afterward. Some of the totem poles are located in Saxman. Skilled carvers carved the giant poles. They carved beautiful animals like the raven, the eagle, the bear, and many more.
